da betsson: It’s safe to say Mesut Ozil’s career at Arsenal has gone downhill in recent seasons.
da brwin: Once the club’s record signing when he arrived from Real Madrid back when Arsene Wenger was in charge, who can forget that 2015/2016 campaign where the German provided a whopping 19 Premier League assists?
This season however, has been anything but stellar. The play-maker has yet to score a single goal, and has provided just two lay-offs for his teammates.
He endured a rocky period under Unai Emery, with the Spaniard dropping him for a game away at Bournemouth because of the physical intensity of the match. However, under Mikel Arteta, he has featured more regularly, playing in all seven league games under the Spaniard.

And in a video whilst the squad are in Dubai for their mid-season break, Ozil was asked about what the major change is between the two bosses. To which he replied, “under Arteta, I’m playing”.
After hearing about Ozil’s comments, Arsenal fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on the situation.
Some fans appeared to take the side of Emery, insisting that their former manager was absolutely right to take his stance on him.
Some more Gunners supporters meanwhile took aim at his form on the pitch, with one fan in particular claiming that if he kept it up, he won’t be playing for the first-team much longer.
Just like Shkodran Mustafi’s earlier Twitter post of a picture of him and Mikel Arteta, with the caption “communication is the key to improvement”, Ozil’s comments appear to be a thinly-veiled dig at Emery.
It all seems rather petty, and instead of focusing on how he can get back to his best form, he looks to be deflecting the blame.

The German would surely be better off just knuckling down and showing why he is still deserving of a first-team spot even despite not scoring at all this season.
