Needless to say, the future, at least for now, looks extremely bright for the young forward. And for that reason, recent links with Crystal Palace don’t really come as a surprise.
As per The Sun’s report, Roy Hodgson is looking to add to his squad’s attacking threat by incorporating the Frenchman.
And since he is now attracting attention from the English top-flight, maybe it’s about time we found out more about him.
To do that we sought out the opinions of those who know him best…
Neil Lennon, Celtic manager
Lennon is definitely someone who knows Edouard inside out.
And to him, there is no question about it – the 21-year-old forward is an incredible talent who is simply a joy to watch and must also be a joy to play with.
Just recently, when speaking after one of their games in November, Lennon showered his prodigy with all sorts of praise, as per Daily Record’s quotes:
“Edouard is a joy to watch. He just comes to life all of a sudden, he has that laconic style and then he just bursts into life. He’s got these beautiful feet where he just dances past people, he picked the right pass, he was unlucky not to score himself.
“He led the line brilliantly. At 21 he is fantastic to watch, and he must be fantastic to play with. He’s shown that for a long time, his all-round game is getting better and better. He has added a volume of goals this season and he is well on his way to getting a really good notch up by the end of the season.”
Callum McGregor, Celtic player
Another person who knows what he’s talking about is the 26-year-old teammate, McGregor, who was quick to do the same as his coach and send a glowing endorsement in Edouard’s direction.
Did he really play for us?! No Palace fan has managed to name all of these obscure Eagles signings….
Just a couple of days ago, when speaking ahead of the League Cup final, McGregor emphasised how important the Frenchman is to their team and what exactly he offers when he’s on the pitch.
He said, as per Daily Record:
“Obviously, we know how good Odsonne is. He’s scored in so many big games, Finals, European games – he is our main man.
“He’s our talisman and we wouldn’t swap him for anyone.
“Odsonne likes to come short and link. He can score from outside the box and do something overly-special. He just seems to have that knack of coming up with a special goal.”
Christopher Jullien, Celtic player
Finally, maybe the biggest compliment Edouard could’ve received came from Jullien, another one of his teammates, who went one step further and compared the 21-year-old prodigy to Kylian Mbappe.
Of course, Paris Saint-Germain’s man is one of the biggest talents in the world and any comparison with him tells enough of a story already.
According to Jullien, he is on his way to first become the best striker in the league and then show the same thing to the rest of Europe, too.
Here’s what he said, as per The Scottish Sun’s quotes:
“He is a striker who can really do anything. He is on his way to being, for me, the best striker in our league.
“He is going to show that in European games too.
“Can he reach the same level as Mbappe? I think so, yes. I’ve played against a lot of strikers in my time and I have not met many who are like Odsonne. He is a complete striker.”
Verdict
Needless to say, and as many have now confirmed, Edouard is one of the biggest talents in Scotland and could soon become one of the big stars in the world of football as well.
If Crystal Palace really need reinforcements in the front line, the 21-year-old would surely be a great choice.
