da blaze casino: West Bromwich Albion are expected to confirm the arrival of Scunthorpe United left-back Conor Townsend this weekend, according to Iron Bru.
What’s the story, then?
da jogodeouro: The report says that the Baggies have had a bid accepted for Townsend, agreed terms with the left-back and expect to confirm his arrival in the coming days.
It says that Darren Moore has beaten competition from Hull City and Ipswich Town to land the defender, who made 30 League 1 appearances last season.
Elsewhere, Kieran Gibbs has been linked with a surprise move to Italian side Torino and West Brom are apparently open to the idea of selling the former Arsenal man.
Townsend could take Gibbs’ starting spot
If the report claiming that West Brom would be willing to part with Gibbs is true then it is possible that Townsend could take his starting spot at the Hawthorns.
It would be a big ask, but not an impossible one for Townsend and Allan Nyom and Chris Brunt could cover if the Englishman needed additional time to adjust to jumping up a division.
Gibbs would likely sell for more than it has cost to sign Townsend, freeing up money for Moore to spend on other areas of the team, as he seeks to engineer an instant return to the top flight.
