da bet nacional: Juventus chief executive Giuseppe Marotta has told Rai 2 that the club will not swoop for Liverpool midfielder Emre Can in January, reports Goal.com.
What’s the word?
da 888: The German international has been linked with a move away from the club for months now, mainly due to the fact that he is yet to sign a new contract.
Can’s current deal expires at the end of the season, which means that he is free to discuss a transfer at the start of 2017.
There have been rumours that Juventus will swoop, but according to Goal.com, plans have been shelved where the midfielder is concerned.
Marotta told Rai 2:
“We will not sign anybody in January. We are currently achieving our objectives in the Champions League, where we have a hard group.”
Does this mean Can is staying?
No, it simply means that the 23-year-old will not be moving to Turin midway through the Premier League season.
It is a positive from Liverpool’s point of view as they will not have to go through the disruption of losing a first-team player at this stage of the campaign, unless Can moves elsewhere.
However, there are still no indications that the midfielder will sign a new contract at the Merseyside outfit.
So far this season, manager Jurgen Klopp has started Can in eight league fixtures and in all four of the club’s Champions League group games.
