da pixbet: Former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson has urged manager Arsene Wenger not to bow down to Mesut Ozil’s demands.
da marjack bet: The playmaker’s future remains up in the air as he is yet to sign a new contract at the Emirates.
Questions have been raised about whether he will leave this summer as he – like Alexis Sanchez – has just one year remaining on his deal.
The sticking point seems to be over salary, with The Mirror recently reporting that Ozil is demanding around £350,000-a-week wages.
The German World Cup winner made it clear earlier this week that he wants to stay at Arsenal, but suggested that not everything is set in stone.
BBC Sport quotes Ozil as saying:
“It is definitely my preference to stay. Once everyone is back in London, we will sit down and discuss the future. I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal.”
Ozil joined the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013 and took time to settle into the side, and while he has become an integral figure in Wenger’s team, he has faced criticism for his performances.
Like many others, Stewart has accused the midfielder of failing to step up in important games, and rather than take the match by the scruff of the neck, he fades into the background.
Because of this reason, the ex-Arsenal player thinks that Ozil does not deserve the wages he is asking for.
Stewart told talkSPORT:
“As we have seen with Ozil over the last three years, he can do some great things but in some of the big games he has gone missing. He is not dynamic enough at times and when Arsenal aren’t playing well, tactically he is a passenger.
“You can’t pay somebody £400,000-a-week and him be a passenger every third week. That is not good enough from a top player and that is why other clubs like the Real Madrid, who he was at before, and Bayern Munich haven’t taken him back.”
