According to The Daily Star, both Arsenal and Chelsea scouted Andrea Belotti last night as the Torino forward took part in his side’s game against Fiorentina last night.
What’s the word?
If you haven’t heard of Belotti yet you will soon because the young Italian striker is widely regarded as one of the most talented young European forwards around.
A proper poacher, the Torino man knows exactly where the goal is with an incredible 19 goals in 23 Serie A games so far to his name this year.
Naturally, then, some of the biggest clubs are linked with an interest in him with both London clubs taking a closer look at him on Tuesday night.
He scored twice and missed a penalty against the men from Florence as the sides drew 2-2 and the general feeling is that he is only going to get better.
Where should he head?
The more obvious fit, surely, is that he heads to Chelsea instead of Arsenal.
The Blues have fellow Italian Antonio Conte in charge and he will immediately help Belotti fit in and settle, as well as offering tactics and a style of play he is going to be more familiar with.
Furthermore, whilst the Gunners need a new striker themselves, Chelsea also need the extra option up top for their Champions League campaign next season and Belotti may feel he’s got a better chance of earning a first team spot.
A Chelsea switch could be the most beneficial, then, in a move that would surely leave them with one of the most potent attacking line-ups in Europe.
