da betsul: Former Newcastle United defender Jose Enrique has announced his retirement from football at the age of 31.
da pinnacle: The Spaniard has decided to walk away from the game earlier than he would have chosen to because of injury woes.

Enrique joined the Spanish club following a five-year spell at Liverpool, where he made 99 appearances in total.
The full-back slipped down the rankings at Anfield, but he had a good spell at his previous club Newcastle.
Enrique spent four years of his career at St James’ Park, making 127 appearances before signing for the Reds in a £6.5m deal in 2011.
After the announcement was made, Newcastle took to Twitter to pay tribute to their former player.
The post sparked a response from the Magpies following, some of which mocked Enrique for having to go in goal at Liverpool after Pepe Reina was sent off in a 2-0 defeat to Newcastle in 2012.
