Neither of Leeds United’s winter arrivals have had much of an impact on their improving fortunes since joining the club in January, but that could soon change after the U23’s latest outing. The west Yorkshiremen have won five straight matches to regain control of the Championship throne, overtaking West Brom following a 2-0 victory over local rivals Huddersfield on Saturday afternoon.Plenty of first-team stars who weren’t involved in the match earned a runout against Barnsley U23s where the two teams drew 1-1 – the likes of Barry Douglas, Leif Davis, Gjanni Alioski and even Tyler Roberts featured. As did Ian Poveda, who is yet to play for the senior team, and he scored United’s only goal of the game which was soon posted on social media leaving fans in a frenzy.
Here is how they have been reacting…
Some of the general reaction was over how good the goal was while the 20-year-old was described as “class,” “decent” and “a good prospect for the future.”

Poveda joined the club on a free transfer from Manchester City in January but has only been named on the bench twice in nine matches, per Transfermarkt.
Which had led to calls for him to be more involved going forward, even if it’s only a place on the bench to begin with.
The English winger was also described as a “right player” by one supporter.
There were also comparison made to Leeds players past and present as well as to one man they very nearly signed last season.
A further member of the Whites faithful said Poveda could be a “massive nuisance” just like Jack Clarke last season while another claimed he is looking like a “prime Romario” Vieira.
One more fan likened him to Dan James, whose move to the club fell through on deadline day before he joined Manchester United.
