da premier bet: Former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi is still available on a free transfer, and Newcastle United should take a punt on the 31-year-old.
What’s the word, then?
da esoccer bet: Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez managed to boost his attack with the arrivals of Salomon Rondon and Yoshinori Muto during the summer transfer window.
Rondon is only on loan at St James’ Park, however, while there are already concerns over whether Muto can become a regular goalscorer in the Premier League.
Joselu is also present at Newcastle, but the Spaniard is simply not a reliable goalscorer despite an above average start to the 2018-19 campaign.
Newcastle simply do not have the money to splash out a big name, and therefore the club should certainly be considering a swoop for free agent Rossi.
Rossi has been injured for a quarter of his 14-year career as a footballer, but the forward still has time on his side, and might relish the chance to return to England.
Rossi, why?
Rossi’s time in football has been seriously harmed by a succession of knee injuries, and he has simply been unable to build on the promise that he showed at Man United.

Rossi’s best spell came at La Liga outfit Villarreal between 2007 and 2013, where he managed 82 goals in 192 appearances.
The Italian also had a very impressive scoring record at Fiorentina – 19 in 42 appearances – when considering that he again struggled with injury.
Rossi only scored once in 10 appearances for Serie A outfit Genoa last season before departing, and according to BBC Sport, the attacker trained with New York Red Bulls during the summer.
The 30-time Italy international is still a free agent, however, with clubs seemingly unwilling to have a punt on a player with a poor injury record.
Rossi has netted over 120 goals during his time in the professional game, however, and Newcastle should consider signing him on a free transfer.
