According to Football Insider, Glasgow Rangers are working on bringing two more major signings to Ibrox this summer.
The Lowdown: Gers already brought in two new players
The Gers have already made two new signings in this transfer window. Fashion Sakala joined on a free transfer from Oostende (rangers.co.uk), while John Lundstram also made the move to Glasgow after leaving Sheffield United as a free agent.
Steven Gerrard will be looking to add more players to his squad, though, as he prepares for a potential Champions League group stage campaign.
The Latest: Gers eye two more deals
As per Football Insider sources, Ross Wilson and Gerrard are working on two more major signings for the Scottish champions.
However, those deals are dependent on whether the Gers qualify for the Champions League group stag and whether any top players leave Ibrox.
The Verdict: Good business
With the two new arrivals which have already been secured, the Ibrox hierarchy have started off their plans for the summer. However, they will likely need more improvements – the Champions League will provide a whole different step-up in quality which will be unfamiliar to Gerrard’s current squad, with the Gers not partaking in the competition since 2010.
It doesn’t need to be a total overhaul, but one or two fresh faces who have tested themselves at that level would not go amiss. As it stands, only Steven Davis, Allan McGregor and Jermain Defoe in the Gers’ squad have featured in Europe’s premier club competition. They could perhaps do with some help in that respect.
