West Ham United announced on Friday that centre-back Angelo Ogbonna has signed a new five-year deal to commit his long-term future to the club.
The 29-year-old joined the Irons from Juventus in 2015 and he has quickly formed a strong relationship at the heart of the defence with Winston Reid, although he missed the second half of last season following knee surgery – although he did return in the final day win against Burnley.
The news will be a big boost for Hammers manager Slaven Bilic as he looks to strengthen his squad this summer following a disappointing debut campaign in the London Stadium.
West Ham supporters were quick to have their say on the new contract via social media, and they were delighted to finally have some good news in what has been a frustrating summer for the fans in terms of incomings, and seeing a number of their Premier League rivals bringing in new players already.
